  19. First, let me apologize for the signal:noise ratio of most of my 
  20. posts recently. This is a Lightwave list, but it's also a 
  21. community of some of the most informed (and opinionated!) AV 
  22. Geeks I know, and I come here as much for the "General Geek 
  23. Banter" as the Lightwave tips. So, yet another hardware post:

  25. I'm like everyone else, I like a good deal, and I'm willing to 
  26. spend the time to get it. But recent problems with my PC have me 
  27. thinking if you're going to depend on your hardware you might be 
  28. better off getting it through channels that you can depend on 
  29. when something goes wrong. I've got a P90 that I assembled 
  30. myself from parts that I got from a variety of vendors, the 
  31. case and mobo from a local distributor, HDs from TechData, tape 
  32. drive from someone else, video card from mailorder etc. etc.

  34. Now, it appears either my PS or video card is failing, one of my 
  35. HDs is dead and I've got erratic SCSI errors when attempting 
  36. backups. I can't just take the thing in and say, "You sold me 
  37. this, fix it." So I'm faced with troubleshooting it myself, 
  38. sending stuff away to be fixed, waiting 6-8 weeks, blah blah 
  39. blah. Not fun.

  41. Bottom Line: I wish I had spent the extra $500 to get the thing 
  42. complete from someone who would guarantee it's performance with 
  43. WindowsNT and my existing stuff like, tape drive, printer etc.

  45. Who's selling P133's or P166's with NT and guaranteed 
  46. compatibility with the PVR and it's coming accessories?
